BP estimates Iran's proved oil reserves at 157 bln barrels

British Petroleum's statistical review of world energy published on June 12 indicates that Iran's proved oil reserves reached to 157 billion barrels in 2012.

This number indicates a 9.4 percent growth compared to 2011.

The report says that the country's oil production, including crude oil, shale oil, oil sands, NGLs (the liquid content of natural gas where this is recovered separately) and excluding liquid fuels from other sources such as biomass and coal derivatives, was 3.680 million barrels per day in 2012.

This indicated a 18 percent decrease compared to 2011.

BP says that Iran's oil consumption (regarding inland demand plus international aviation and marine bunkers and refinery fuel and loss as well as consumption of fuel ethanol and biodiesel) was 1.971 mbpd in 2012, indicating a 4.3 percent increase compared to 2011.

BP puts Iran's refinery capacity volume at 1.892 mbp in 2012 with 1.7 percent growth compared to 2011.
