As of June 1, 2013, the number of banks in Azerbaijan, operating with profit, was 39. The figure was not changed within a month, the Azerbaijani Central Bank's statistics report said today.
Around 33 banks completed last year with profit.
According to the Azerbaijani Central Bank, the total profit of the banking system increased by 22.16 percent per year. As of June 1, it amounted to 145.31 million manat.
The number of unprofitable banks in Jan.-May reduced from 8 to 4 or by 4 less compared to the same period of 2012. Their number remained unchanged in May.
Four banks' losses hit 8.12 million manat or 8.1 times less than in Jan.-May 2012 (65.79 million manat).
