Kazakhstan plans to supply 500 tons of meat to Russia by the year's end, the deputy chairman of the board of KazAgro Holding Dauren Mahazhanov said.

"That is the purpose. Some 50 tons of meat have already been shipped to date. It is possible to ship 500 tons by the year's end. We are currently holding talks with Russian companies engaged in the sales of agricultural products, including on the Moscow market," Mahazhanov said on Monday at a press briefing at the Service of Central Communications under the President of Kazakhstan.

According to him, interested companies from Moscow have already visited Kazakhstan and held talks with the Kazakh side. "They came and talked, visited feedlots. Negotiations on the terms of these agreements are currently underway," Mahazhanov said.

According to him, the price monitoring of domestic meat products is being conducted.

"When comparing our frozen beef, Russian entrepreneurs have an understanding that our meat can take a good position in the class of "premium", KazAgro's deputy chairman added.

Kazakhstan expects to become a key player in the global meat market. According to the Speaker of the Majilis (lower chamber of Parliament) Nurlan Nigmatulin, the country is well positioned to become a leading exporter of livestock products not only in the region but throughout the world.
