Iran’s aluminum output up by 6.5 per cent

Some 29,600 tons of aluminium ingots were produced in Iran during the sixth calendar month (August 22 - September 22).

The figure shows 6.5 per cent increase compared to the same month of the previous year, the ISNA News Agency reported.

Iran's aluminium ingot output stood at 178,000 tons in the first six months of the ‎current Iranian calendar year, which started on March 21.

It was previously announced that Iran plans to increase its annual aluminium ingot production capacity up to 910,000 ‎tons by the end of the Fifth Five-Year Economic ‎Development Plan (March 2016).

According to the Iranian Deputy Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Vajihollah Ja'fari, Iran's current consumption of aluminium per capita stands at 4.5 kilogram, while the world aluminium consumption per capita currently stands at 6.5 ‎kilograms.

The official emphasized that Iran's ranking in production of aluminium has risen ‎by four times since 2005 to stand as number 22 in the world aluminium ‎output.

Ja'fari stressed that Iran plans to book the 14th rank in the global aluminium ‎production by the end of the 5th Economic Development Plan (2010-2015).
