Grain exports from Kostanai province (North Kazakhstan) amounted to over 7.4 million tons, Governor of Kostanai province Nuraly Saduakasov said at a briefing in Central Communications Service under the President of Kazakhstan on Dec.19 in Astana.
"Kostanai grain accounts for 31 percent of the total volume of the republic's export which amounts to 20.3 million tons and is exported to about 35 countries," Saduakasov said.
Most of the grain is exported to the following countries: Russia - 15 percent, Azerbaijan - 13 percent, Iran - 12 percent, Turkey - 11 percent, Tajikistan -7 percent, Georgia - 6 percent, Uzbekistan - 5 percent, according to Saduakasov. In addition, some 4.4 million tons of grain was sold to other regions of the republic.
The governor said the province's main export product is wheat, with a specific weight of 95 percent of the total export volume.
During the reporting period flour exports increased to 3.6 million tons. Some 600,000 tons of flour was exported in 2013. Milk and cream export has increased by 63 percent, dairy products and yogurts - 2.4 times, butter - twice, flour confectionery - 29 percent," Saduakasov said.
