Iran’s Isfahan province iron, steel exports rise 34 per cent

Some 34,392 tons of iron and steel have been exported from Iran's Isfahan province from the beginning of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2013) so far, the Managing Director of Isfahan province's Customs Administration, Ahmadi Vanhari, said on Jan. 8, the IRIB News Agency reported.

"The figure shows a 34 per cent increase compared to the same period of time last year," he said.

"The value of the province's iron and steel exports was around $203.2 million in the mentioned time span, which is 10 per cent more than same period last year," he explained.

"Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates are the main destinations for Isfahan provinces iron and steel exports," Vanhari said.

He went on to note that iron and steel exports account for 26 per cent of the province's total exports.

"Currently some 689 items are being exported from Isfahan province to 68 countries around the world.
