Tehran, Kabul boost annual trade to $5 billion

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran and Afghanistan have increased bilateral annual trade to $5 billion.

Afghan ambassador to Iran Nasir Ahmad Noor said the volume of trade between Iran and Afghanistan has increased by tenfold over the past 4-5 years, Iran's Fars news agency reported on Aug. 12.

Afghanistan was the fifth leading importer of Iranian non-oil goods in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, customs data shows.

Afghanistan imported $2.451 billion worth of non-oil goods from Iran and exported just $32.2 million of goods to Iran in Iranian year 1392 (March 2013-March 2014).
