Turkmenistan plans to build a new cement plant in the Koytendag region of the Lebap province, the country's industry ministry said.
The new plant is projected to have a capacity of one million metric tons per year.
Koytendag region is known for the rich reserves of raw materials, including those for cement production.
Aside from that, a railway infrastructure has already been established there, which will allow increasing the export opportunities in the region.
Turkmenistan adopted the 'Program for Development of Construction and Industrial Sectors in 2012-2016', which is designed for diversification and modernization of the building materials infrastructure, including through an increase in its capacity.
Turkmenistan fully supplies the country's construction projects with cement of its own production.
