Martyshi-Atyrau pipeline resumes oil pumping in Kazakhstan

Kazakh KazTransOil company liquidated an oil spill caused by the unauthorized tie-in into the Martyshi-Atyrau oil pipeline and resumed pumping through the pipeline

Kazakh KazTransOil company liquidated an oil spill caused by the unauthorized tie-in into the Martyshi-Atyrau oil pipeline and resumed pumping through the pipeline, the press service of KazTransOil JSC told Trend.

"The pipeline section has been repaired," the press service of KazTransOil JSC said. "At 4 p.m. Astana time Martyshi-Atyrau main line resumed pumping of oil."

On Jan.16, KazTransOil emergency repair service had detected an unauthorized tie-in into Martyshi-Atyrau oil pipeline passing through the territory of Atyrau region.

The amount of damage caused to the environment and to KazTransOil is currently being determined.

KazTransOil is the Kazakh national operator of the main oil pipeline. It is the largest oil transportation company of Kazakhstan, which owns a diversified network of main oil pipelines with total length of 5,000 kilometers and water pipelines with total length exceeding 2,000 kilometers.
