The optimal solutions for national currency settlements among CIS countries will be found soon, Sergey Lebedev, the chairman of the Executive Committee of the CIS Executive Secretary, told reporters as part of the "Minsk Business Meetings" forum Nov. 5, BelTA reported.
"I am deeply convinced that the best solutions and options will be found in the near future," he said. "They will allow for carrying out national currency settlements among the CIS countries."
He said the problems with foreign currency settlements have resulted in CIS countries looking for alternatives.
The international financial and banking forum of the CIS countries will be held in Minsk November 5-6. Representatives of state agencies, banking and businesses in CIS countries, as well as international development institutions, including those from Europe and Asia, will attend the event.
The business program involves the consideration of issues in developing the financial markets in CIS countries, support for exports and attracting investments into the economy of CIS countries, as well as the search for solutions to overcome the crisis in the financial and banking sector.
