Iran reduces export of handmade carpets

Iran has exported 2,620 tons of handmade carpets valued at $166 million to 80 countries in the first seven months of 2015, head of the country's National Carpet Center Hamid Kargar said.
This is while the country exported 3,100 tons of carpets worth $202 million in the same period of 2014, IRNA reported.
Kargar noted that Eastern Asian countries are the main buyers of Iranian carpets.
"Iran's handmade carpets are exported to Lebanon, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, China, Japan, France, Sweden, Italy and Germany," he added.
Further, head of the National Carpet Center said that if the sanctions imposed on Iran are lifted, the export of these carpets to the US will be resumed.
The National Carpet Center has said that Iran has exported handmade carpets totaling $330 million in 2014.
