Russia’s Gaz Group eyes Iranian market

Russia's Gaz Group company is considering the possibilities of entering the Iranian market.

"Iran has a big market for cars which needs to be rebuilt. Since we are neighbors, economic relations between Russia and Iran will benefit both," Andrey Dorofeev, the company's overseas sales executive said, IRNA reported December 27.

Gaz Group is Russia's biggest car making factory and stands sixth among world companies in terms of sales volume.

Dorofeev said one of the company's cars which is suitable for use in Iran is very environment-friendly and meets the Euro-5 standard.

The company has a production line in Turkey as well. It exports products to the CIS, Middle East, Egypt, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and Eastern Europe.

The manager said his company brought 1,500 of its cars to Iran in cooperation with Iranian manufacturer Iran Khodro.

Iran's market has been so far closed to many foreign brands. Most imported cars in Iran come from East Asia.
