Italy ranked first in the list of Azerbaijan’s foreign trade partners in January-July 2016 with a trade turnover of almost $1.1 billion, which makes 11.71 percent of Azerbaijan’s total foreign trade, said a report of Azerbaijan’s State Customs Committee.
Italy is followed by Russia with $1.06 billion (11.36 percent), Turkey with $791 million (8.46 percent), Germany with $575.4 million (6.16 percent) and France with $428.05 million (4.58 percent).
The share of these countries in Azerbaijan’s total trade turnover is 42.27 percent.
Italy also had the lion’s share – $885.7 million (19.3 percent) – of Azerbaijan’s total exports in January-July 2016. Meanwhile, Taiwan with $402.9 million (8.78 percent), Germany with $364.8 million (7.95 percent), France with $344.76 million (7.51 percent) and Israel with $269.4 million (5.87 percent) are also holding the leading positions in terms of Azerbaijan’s exports.
These countries’ share in Azerbaijan’s total exports is 49.41 percent.
In January-July 2016, Russia led the top five countries in terms of imports to Azerbaijan with $849.15 million or 17.85 percent of total imports. Turkey with $612.2 million (12.87 percent), China with $325.2 million (6.84 percent), the United Kingdom with $324.65 million (6.82 percent) and the US with $280.6 million (5.9 percent) are following Russia.
The specific weight of these countries in Azerbaijan’s total imports is 50.28 percent.
The report says Azerbaijan’s foreign trade operations decreased by 26.89 percent and totaled $9.3 billion in January-July 2016 as compared to the same period of 2015.
During the period, Azerbaijan exported goods worth $4.6 billion and imported goods worth $4.76 billion.
