Georgia revels terms of Khudoni HPP construction

Georgia plans to complete the construction of huge Khudoni hydro power plant by the end of 2021, according to the updated document on renewable energy projects, published by Georgian energy ministry on May 24.

Khudoni HPP in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region in Western Georgia with an installed capacity of 702 MW is expected to be launched at the end of 2022.

The total cost of the project is $776.7 million, according to the ministry.
The annual power generation of the HPP will reach 1,500 GWh.

Khudoni HPP project was initiated in 1979, but then it got suspended. In 2011 Georgia signed a memorandum of understanding with Trans Electrica Georgia company on the construction of the plant. However in February 2017 the project was suspended again.
