Turkey is interested in increasing the number of research centers, a source in the Ministry of Development told Trend.

Currently, there are four research centers in several Turkish universities, according to the source.

“At present, about 20 billion liras are being allocated for research. It is planned to increase spending on scientific research by three times in 2023,” said the source.

“Turkey is also interested in increasing the number of researchers and scientists. So, if the number of researchers was about 20,000 in 2002, now the number of such specialists in Turkey is 120,000.”

The source added that it is planned to increase the number of researchers to 300,000 people as part of a government plan titled 2023 Vision.
