Baku, Azerbaijan, Dec. 12
By Anvar Mammadov – Trend:
Azerbaijan is self-sufficient in basic food products at the level of 85-95 percent , Deputy Minister of Agriculture Seyfaddin Talibov said at the 5th meeting with donor organizations on Dec.11.
He said that if earlier the main goal of the development of Azerbaijan's agrarian sector was to ensure food security, today priority is given to the production of competitive, export-oriented products.
Talibov noted that over the past 10 months, agricultural production in Azerbaijan grew by 4 percent, and the export rate reached 40-60 percent.
"The production of competitive and export-oriented products is one of the goals of the strategic roadmap for the production and processing of agricultural products, and we must not forget about food security. I reitrate that we have already achieved some success and will continue to work in these areas," said Talibov.
