Surplus of Azerbaijan’s current account exceeds $1B

The surplus of current account of the balance of payments of Azerbaijan amounted to $1.1 billion in January-September 2017, according to the balance of payments of the Central Bank (CBA).

According to the balance of payments, the surplus of the current account of Azerbaijan’s oil and gas sector amounted to $5 billion ($4.1 billion in the third quarter of 2016).

Meanwhile, the surplus of the current account on the oil and gas sector fully covers the deficit of the account on the non-oil sector ($207 million).

The surplus of the financial account amounted to $279.1 million in the reporting period as compared to the deficit of $1.97 billion in January-September 2016.

Trade turnover of Azerbaijan totaled $17.2 billion in nine months of 2017.

The surplus of the trade balance amounted to $4.4 billion.

Moreover, the reserve assets of Azerbaijan rose by $2.2 billion in the period.
