In Uzbekistan, the number of operating enterprises and organizations increased by 3,600 units (1.3 percent) in January 2018 and amounted to 289,100 units, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said in a message on Feb.16.
The largest share of operating enterprises and organizations accounted for Tashkent (21.4 percent), Tashkent region (9.5 percent), Ferghana (8.9 percent) and Andijan (8.6 percent).
The number of newly created enterprises and organizations amounted to more than 5,100 in January 2018, which is more by 0.7 compared to the same period of last year.
Meanwhile, the number of enterprises and organizations that ceased their activities decreased by 5.3 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to 1,300 units.
The share of the operating companies in the total number of registered enterprises and organizations was 95.1 percent.
Out of the total number of the operating enterprises and organizations, the share of enterprises and organizations in the sphere of trade amounted to 22 percent, industry - 17.3 percent, construction - 8.5 percent, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 7.4 percent, accommodation and food services - 6 percent, transportation and storage - 4.2 percent, information and communication - 2.2 percent, healthcare and social services - 2.1 percent and in other spheres of economic activity - 30. 3 percent.
If to consider the operating enterprises with participation of the foreign capital by kinds of economic activity as of Feb.1, 2018, the greatest number is accounted for industry - 2483 units (44.3 percent), trade - 1078 units (19.2 percent) and other types 996 units ( 17.8 percent), while the lowest share is accounted for healthcare and social services - 76 units (1.4 percent), information and communication services - 129 units (2.3 percent), agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 162 units (2.9 percent), transportation and storage - 163 units (2.9 percent), accommodation and feeding services - 221 units (3.9 percent) and construction - 300 units (5.3 percent).
As of Feb. 1, 2018, the number of operating small businesses and microfirms in Uzbekistan hit 232,900. The figure is more by 9 percent compared to the same period last year.
The number of newly created small business entities and microfirms amounted to more than 4,400 units, which is 4 percent more than in 2017.
As of Feb 1, 2018, the number of registered family enterprises that passed state registration as a legal entity amounted to 12,592 units, of which active ones amounted to 1,205 units or 95.7 percent. The growth in the number of registered and operating family enterprises was 36.8 percent compared to the same period of last year.
In late 2017, the number of newly established enterprises and organizations in Uzbekistan amounted to more than 41,000, and the total number of enterprises and organizations reached 285.,500, which is 25.2 percent more than the same period last year.
