By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:

Turkish Airlines (THY) intends to increase the number of local pilots in the company, THY CEO Bilal Eksi said, the Turkish media reported March 5.

He noted that a training center, where 250 people study, was established for this purpose in the western Aydin province of Turkey in 2016.

Eksi added that meanwhile, 150 people study in other training centers of the country.

Currently, about 800 foreign pilots work at THY, the CEO said.

It is expected that the training centers in Turkey will annually train about 400 local pilots with an annual THY requirement of 500 people.

Turkey’s need for pilots grows every year.

“THY aims to ensure that all the pilots of the company will be Turkish citizens until 2023,” Eksi said.
