Iran exported more than 20.9 million tons of mineral products worth $3.76 billion during the first four months of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21).
Iran Customs Administration’s latest report indicates that the value of the county’s exports of mineral products has witnessed a 37 percent rise compared to the same period last year, IRNA news agency reported.
The figure of $3.76 billion is expected to reach $10 billion by the year-end.
Iraq, China and the UAE were the three countries that imported 40 percent of the mineral products during the period, accounting for 9.9 million tons.
The Netherlands also imported 30,000 tons of Iranian mineral products worth $27.9 million during the period under review.
Iran is home to 68 types of minerals with more than 37 billion tons of proven reserves and 57 billion tons of potential reserves.
According to the United States Geological Survey, Iran holds the world’s largest zinc, ninth largest copper, 10th largest iron ore, fifth largest gypsum and barite, and 10th largest uranium reserves. Overall, Iran is home to more than 7 percent of global mineral reserves.
