Over 200 long-term contracts worth 5 billion tenge for orders from small and medium-sized businesses were signed in January-June 2018 in the East Kazakhstan Region, head of the Entrepreneurship and Industrial-Innovative Development Administration of the region, Yerzhan Shurmanov told Trend.

The contracts were concluded within the partnership program between the region’s administration, Chamber of Entrepreneurs and 28 backbone enterprises to maximize the placement of orders among small and medium-sized businesses of the region.

Shurmanov also noted other mechanisms being applied to support entrepreneurship in East Kazakhstan.

For example, since 2016, a commission has been operating in the region to support domestic commodity production and assist promotion of products in the domestic market.

"Also, to provide targeted support to entrepreneurship and study in detail the industry development, the region was one of the first in Kazakhstan to form pre-tender and post-tender control groups," the head of administration noted.

Moreover, to assist customers in choosing a domestic enterprise for cooperation, last year a register of domestic producers of the region was formed, which includes 746 enterprises.
