Aquatic bio-species worth $150M exported from Iran this year

Some 55,580 tons of various aquatic bio-species valued approximately at $150 million were exported during first six months of the current year (beginning from March 21, 2018), IRNA news agency quoted Head of aquatic bio-species trading and market development division of Iranian Fisheries Organization Siamak Madbeygi as saying.

He said 7,400 tons of shrimps valued at $24.207 million were exported during that period. This testifies to 32 percent growth in terms of value as compared to the same period of the last year, he explained.

“About 40,000 tons of various fishes were exported. The fishes included mostly salmons, trouts, common carps, cuttlefishes, calmaries valued at $111 million,” he noted.

Madbeygi added that during the mentioned period, 1147 tons of canned fish and sea products valued at $5.298 million were exported.

The official representative of the organization said the exports of decorative fish increased by 64 percent in terms of value compared to the same period of the last year and reached $317,000.
