Israeli experts held a training in Nukus on advanced and efficient irrigation methods, where they presented prospects for the use of drip irrigation technology and the integration of water-saving technologies in agriculture, Uzbek media reported.

Experts familiarized participants with international experience in assessing water availability and water consumption in Central Asian countries, spoke about the prospects for the development of advanced irrigation technologies, compared various methods based on economic models to clearly explain the possibilities and benefits of their application in Karakalpakstan.

Taking into account local climatic features, special attention was paid to cultivation technologies using drip irrigation on the example of cotton and various vegetables.

Drip irrigation allows significantly reducing water consumption. The difference reaches 50 percent compared to traditional irrigation when irrigating potatoes, and 25 percent when irrigating corn. Moreover, the yield increases by an average of 30 percent. Another advantage of this method is the uniform distribution of fertilizers.
