A special permit will need to be obtained from Jan. 1, 2021 to export harsh cotton yarn from Uzbekistan, Uzbek media reported referring to the draft decree of the head of state.

Within the framework of the document, before July 1, 2019, a procedure should be developed and approved in the country, in accordance with which a permit shall be issued for the export of harsh cotton yarn.

In addition, according to the draft decree, all enterprises of the industry that export 100 percent of the volume of garment and knitwear produced will be exempted from all types of taxes.

Other changes include the renaming of the Association of Textile and Knitting Industry of Uzbekistan into the National Association of Textile, Knitting and Cotton Textile Enterprises and Clusters of Uzbekistan with the inclusion of the O’zyengsanloyiha State Design Institute and the Research Institute of Natural Fibers.

The document provides for creating a Fund for the development of the textile industry and support for cotton-textile clusters and industries. It will render the financial support for organizations specializing in the full production cycle from textile semi-finished products to finished products, through the allocation of funds on a returnable basis.
