More than 500,000 tons of coal is produced annually in Iran’s Semnan Province, Trend reports citing Behrouz Asvadi, chairman of the Semnan Province Industry, Mine and Trade Organization.

There are more than 45 coal mines in Semnan, he added, Shata reported.

Semnan has rich and diverse mining materials, and is one of the three coal mining provinces in Iran, he noted.

“Semnan Province produces 50 percent of Iran’s salt, 40 percent of gypsum, about 100 percent celestine and 20 percent of chromite,” he said.
