Kazakhstan is introducing the technology of assembling the Mi-8AMT/Mi-171 heavy helicopters, Trend reports referring to the Kazakh media.

The Ministry of Defense and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan informed that a contract for organization of semi-knocked-down (SKD) assembly was signed by Kazakhstan Engineering National Company JSC, Aircraft Repair Plant 405 JSC and Russian Helicopters JSC of Rostec Corporation.

The project was launched without attracting budget investments. The Mi-8AMT/Mi-171 helicopters are ordered by the Kazakh government agencies and commercial airlines.

"The launch of the helicopter assembly will ensure significant development of the domestic military-industrial complex, civil helicopter industry and training facilities. The assembly of helicopters and their adaptation to the requirements of customers will be carried out at the production sites of Aircraft Repair Plant 405," the press service said.

The Mi-8AMT/Mi-171 helicopters are used for passenger and cargo transportation, search and rescue operations.
