Uzbekistan has recently increased its purchases of timber industry products from Russia's Tomsk region, said Deputy Head of the plant quarantine supervision, grain quality and seed control of the regional department of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia Vladislav Azarenka.
"Previously, Tomsk region sent up to 90 percent of timber to China. Uzbekistan began to significantly increase the volume of purchases three years ago. It significantly outpaced China In 2018”, he told RIA Tomsk.
Azarenka underlined that the export volume of raw wood from the Tomsk region remained approximately at the level of 2017 which is 585,000 cubic meters in 2018.
Siberian Customs Administration said that Tomsk region exported wood and pulp and paper products worth $162.3 million within 11 months of 2018.
