Turkistan region becomes Kazakhstan's main meat exporter

Last year, the Turkistan region of Kazakhstan exported 9,600 tons of meat and became the main meat exporter in the country, Trend reports referring to the region’s administration.

The gross agricultural output amounted to 544.3 billion tenge, 5.3 percent up compared to 2017. In particular, production of meat increased by 4.8 percent, milk by 2.8 percent, and eggs by 8.1 percent.

In addition, crop production output in the Turkistan region amounted to 286.3 billion tenge last year, 6.5 percent up compared to 2017. In 2018, the acreage of agricultural crops reached 807,400 hectares, which was 9,000 hectares more than in 2017.

Moreover, 17.8 centners of grain was collected from each hectare, and the output reached 405,000 tons. Some 340,700 tons of cotton was harvested with the yield of 25.7 centners per hectare.

Also, record 2.9 million tons of vegetable, potato and melon harvest was achieved in 2018 in the Turkistan region.
