Agreements with relevant officials of Azerbaijan for the connection of the Azerbaijani railway to the Parsabad County of Iran’s northeastern Ardabil Province have been reached, said Akbar Behnamjou, governor of the Ardabil Province, Trend reports referring to IRNA.
Behnamjou stated that about 500 hectares of land are to be allocated to connect the Azerbaijani railroad to the Parsabad County, adding that the railway is considered an infrastructure project.
Behnamjou said that the initial field work for commencing with the construction of the Ardabil-Parsabad railway is expected to last for 7 months.
The governor remarked that steps for the allocation of necessary funds have been taken, and efforts are being made in ensuring that the construction will be complete within 4-5 years.
"There is a 701 km-long highway road in Ardabil Province. Its 150 kilometers will be extended to four lane roads," Behnamjou said, concluding that the length of such four-lane roads is expected to reach 300 km within 4 years.
