Kazakhstan's industrial sector grows by over 4%

Kazakhstan's industrial sector grew by 4.1 percent by the end of 2018.

"This became possible due to the growth of the mining sector by 4.6 percent and the manufacturing industry by 4 percent," said Zhenis Kassymbek, Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan.

The leading fields were mechanical engineering (an increase of 14.1 percent), chemical industry (8.1 percent), oil refining (8.1 percent), light industry (4.4 percent) and oil and gas production (4.8 percent).

The number of operating enterprises in the processing industry reached 14,700 by the end of 2018.

It is planned to introduce innovative and digital technologies at 100 enterprises of the mining, metallurgical and manufacturing industries via the "Digital Kazakhstan" state program by 2022.

In 2019, 38 innovative projects will be implemented at 32 mining and metallurgical complexes, as well as at chemical, construction and food industry enterprises.
