By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

In the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), over 260,000 tons of agricultural products have been harvested in the Selseleh County of Iran’s Lorestan Province, said Head of the Selseleh Agricultural Jihad Organization Reza Sukhtezari, Trend reports via IRNA.

There was a 10 percent increase in production this year, compared to the previous year, he said.

He also noted that the fields allocated for rapeseed have been expanded by 220 percent.

Further in his remarks, Sukhtezari noted that one of the Organization’s goals is to decrease the share of agricultural products that need much water to grow.

“To this end, we have decreased potato fields to less than 1,300 hectares, though last year this figure was 3,500 hectares,” he said.

He underlined that in the upcoming year the county will go “potatoless” and thus will be a pioneer.
