Iran's monthly mushroom exports hit 170 tons

On average, Iran has exported 170 tons of mushrooms per month, Mohammad Hassan Afshar, chairman of the board of the Union for Mushroom Growers, said, Trend reports referring to Iran's Ministry of Agriculture Jihad.

Afshar noted that 7 percent of the mushrooms is exported to Iraq, and the rest to other countries, including the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.

He said that one kilogram of mushroom was exported at a price of $1.8, though this price is $2.5 in the global market.

In the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2018), Iran's mushroom exports to France reached four tons, Afshar said, adding that there is a strong competition in mushroom market of Europe.

Therefore Russian market should also be considered, he said.

He further noted that Iran, with its 150,000 tons of annual output, ranks sixth among mushroom producing countries.
