Sales of real estate down in Turkey

Some 105,000 real estate properties were sold in Turkey in March 2019, which is 5.3 percent less than in March 2018, Trend reports referring to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK).

In March 2019, 19,100 real estate properties were sold in Istanbul, 10,600 properties in Ankara, and 6,300 properties in Izmir, according to the TUIK.

"The remaining 69,000 real estate properties fall to the share of other cities," the TUIK said.

In March 2019, 3,129 real estate properties were sold to foreigners in Turkey, which is 71.3 percent more than in March 2018.

Meanwhile, Iraqi citizens acquired 548 real estate properties in Turkey, Iranian citizens purchased 334 properties, Saudi Arabian citizens – 189 properties, Russian citizens – 156 properties while citizens of Afghanistan - 150 properties in March 2019.

"The remaining 1,752 real estate properties fall to the share of citizens of other countries," the TUIK said.
