Kazakhstan increases salt export

In the period of January-March 2019 the volume of salt manufacturing in Kazakhstan amounted to 68,700 tons, which is 21.7 percent more than in the same period of last year, Trend reports via EnergyProm.

Kyzylorda Region provides 97.4 percent of the manufacturing (66,900 tons). Due to the launch of salt manufacturing in the neighboring south regions the percentage of Kyzylorda region decreased from 99.9 percent to 97.4 percent (56,400 tons last year).

Thus, the salt manufacturing has started in Jambyl Region, where in the first three months of 2019 some 1,400 tons of salt were manufactured compared to none in the previous year.

The volume of salt manufacturing in Turkestan region amounted to 400 tons in 1Q2019.

In January-March of 2019 the volume of salt import amounted to only 6.4 percent (3,000 tons).

In contrast, the export of Kazakh salt amounted to 35,900 tons with an increase of 3.4 percent. In percentage of export out of the demand stands at 76.7 percent. Furthermore, the volume of realization on the local market has decreased by annual 24.5 percent.

The volume of manufacture and the meeting of Kazakh consumers demand keeps the salt prices stable. In April 2019 one kg of salt cost 52.3 tenge, which is just 2.1 percent more than in the same period of last year.
