Tehran, Iran, June 7
Trend:
Iran exports 10 percent of its products to Afghanistan, said a member of joint Iran Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce.
"Afghanistan is a profitable market for Iran, the infrastructure in Afghanistan needs imports from Iran, and and Iran is the only neighbor country with the same language that is an advantage in economic ties," said Amir Hoshang Amiri, Trend reports citing Mehr News Agency.
"While sanctions, trade problems and financial transactions creates obstacles over development of Iran and Afghanistan, the central banks of two countries should manage banking system to continue the trade," he added.
The official emphasized that bartering goods can have an important role in solving transaction problems of Iran and Afghanistan.
"Implementing the barter suggestion depends on increase of import goods from Afghanistan, since Iran imports very little from its neighbor. This is while the Afghan products are very affordable," he added.
"Iran's trade with Iraq and Afghanistan during last Iranian year (started March 29, 2018) was $8.9 billion and $2.9 billion respectively, that was considered the highest trade balance with neighbors," said Amiri. "However Iran should use all the capacities of its neighbors," he noted.
"The statistics show Iran's non-oil exports in this period was $44.3 billion, where around $24.1 billion products have been exported to 15 neighbor countries that included 54 percent of Iran's exports," he said.
