Cargo transportation from Iran to Turkey up by 74%

In the period of nine months (until the end of May 2019), cargo transportation from Iran to Turkey increased by about 74 percent, the CEO of Iran's Azerbaijan Railways Shapour Aslani said, Trend reports via IRNA.

During the reported period, 94,300 tons of cargo were sent to Turkey by 2,920 rail cars, Arslani said.

For comparison, in the same period period last year, 36,400 tons of cargo were sent by 8,500 rail cars, he added.

During the reported period, 145,500 tons of cargo were transported from Turkey to Iran by 6,233 rail cars, Arslani said, adding that in the same period period of the last year, 317,700 tons of cargo were transported from Turkey to Iran by 8,480 rail cars.

In the last 12 months, 162,000 tons of cargo were transported by 6,220 rail cars to Iran from Turkey and 135,000 tons of cargo were transported from Iran to Turkey by 6,190 rail cars, he added.
