Investments in Kazakhstan's Shymkent city to exceed $2B

Annual value of investments in Kazakhstan’s Shymkent city will amount to one trillion tenge ($2.6 billion) during next five years, Trend reports with reference to akimat (administrative center) of the city.

This sum is announced within the project of Complex Development Plan of Shymkent city till 2023, which was recently approved by the government.

The plan oversees realization of 89 projects worth over 1.2 trillion tenge, including 836 billion tenge to be provided via investments, and 68 billion tenge will be allocated within public-private partnership. The implementation of the plan will allow for the compact construction and optimization of the territory of the city, effective use of infrastructure, and creation of comfortable conditions for citizens.

For further development of investments potential, the construction of Zhuldyz and Shymkent-agro industrial zones and expansion of existing Ontustik special economic zone are planned.

The construction of a new passenger terminal in Shymkent airport and the reconstruction of a railway station is planned within transport and engineering infrastructure development for 2020. The completion of construction of a gas distribution station and of a combined cycle plant with capacity of 450 MW is planned via private investments.

Furthermore, according to the complex plan, the gross regional product of Shymkent is to increase from two trillion to 3.5 trillion tenge by 2023.
