Kazakhstan is to increase agriculture machinery manufacturing to 3,500 tractors, 1,500 combine harvesters, and 3,000 units of hinged equipment a year by 2021, Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of Kazakhstan told Trend.

According to the source in the ministry, the manufacturing of almost all types of agricultural machinery is established in the country. “Total capacity of local ventures allows to manufacture up to 10,000 units of modern machinery a year. Currently, the workload of the ventures does not exceed 30 percent,” the source said.

“During January-June 2019, local ventures manufactured 150 combine harvesters, 480 tractors, 203 reapers and 575 units of trailers and hinged equipment. Thus, the manufacturing volume increased by 1.5 times compared to the same period of last year,” the source noted.

Furthermore, a number of measures to reach the planned volume were named. They include, among others, establishing high-technology agricultural machinery manufacturing in cooperation with manufacturers from Russia, Belarus, China, Germany, Finland, and Poland.

“These measures also involve stimulating local manufacturers to increase the localization level in the country, implementing machinery leasing programs and subsidizing local farmers for purchase of the machinery,” the source added.

Currently, the stock of agricultural machinery in the country includes 152,000 tractors, 42,000 combine harvesters and over 200,000 of trailers and hinged equipment.

“Taking into consideration the import, the normative level of machinery updating amounts from one to two percent. Locally manufactured machinery is very popular among farmers due to the cost to quality to service availability ratio. Ventures manage to entirely sell the manufactured machinery,” the source concluded.
