New grant program for start-ups launches in Georgia

The Georgian government has launched a small grant program in the mountainous region of Khevsureti of Georgia to support locals and the development of tourism in the area, Trend reports via agenda.ge.

the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia will offer grants from 5,000 to 15,000 lari to help locals start up businesses.

Georgian Minister of Economy Natia Turnava met with locals in Shatili to speak about the program and urge them to get involved in the program.

"Tourism potential in the mountainous regions is high and I am sure locals will show certain interest,” Turnava said.

She said that with the help of the government, locals will be able to build family hotels, renovate existing ones or start up other businesses to employ locals and receive an income.
