Industrial business group of Georgia Aigroup and the Chinese Changan Automobile (Group) have begun to design an electric car manufacturing factory in Kutaisi, Trend reports via commersant.ge.
Currently, tender proposals are being considered by construction companies, potential project subcontractors. In addition, there is a process of negotiating the acquisition of equipment for the factory.
The construction is planned to be launched in September.
“In September, we will recruit 300 workers who will be engaged in the construction of the factory which will be retrained,” said CEO of Aigroup Kakha Guledani.
The construction will be carried out on the area of 100 hectares and will last 18 months. The facility will produce 500 electric vehicles per year and will be Georgia’s main export commodity.
The maximum number of employees will reach 3000 after the factory is fully launched.
