Major oil companies to support further digitalization of Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s national oil and gas company KazMunayGas and Total company of France agreed on providing assistance to state and other organizations in realization of state program ‘Digital Kazakhstan’, Trend reports with reference to press office of KazMunayGas.

The corresponding memorandum of understanding on digitalization in oil and gas sector was signed on July 30, 2019, between KazMunayGas, Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan and Total company. The memorandum was signed within the framework of Minister of the Economy and Finance of France Bruno Le Maire’s visit to Kazakhstan.

The memorandum also oversees provision of support to further development of digitalization of oil and gas industry.

“The cooperation covers consulting on issues of digitalization, realization of digitalization initiatives based on the example of Total, improvement of data management, provision of support in preparation and increase of employees qualification,” the press office said.

National company KazMunayGas is Kazakhstan's national operator for exploration, production, refining and transportation of hydrocarbons, representing the state in Kazakhstan's petroleum sector.

Total has been active in Kazakhstan since 1992. It has 16,81 percent of share in Kashagan, one of the major oil field in the world. The volume of French investments to Kazakhstan amounted to $15 billion during 2005-2018.
