Kazakhstan to be first importer of Russia's new MС-21 aircraft

Kazakhstan will become the first importer of new MС-21 aircraft of Russian manufacturing, Trend reports with reference to Russian media.

The agreement on the purchase of ten aircrafts has been signed with Kazakh air carrier, the report said.

The Irkut Corporation first presented MС-21 aircraft in public at the Moscow International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2019 on August 26 this year.

“The negotiations on supply of aircrafts are also being held with countries of Asia, in particular China,” the statement said.

The mass production of the aircrafts is planned to be launched in 2021 in Siberia. According to the president of the company, the plant will be assembling 72 aircrafts annuallly after six years. There are plans to equip the aircrafts with engines and internal communications systems of Russian manufacturing. The plane will be able to carry up to 211 passengers.

Yakovlev Design Bureau JSC, which was established in 1927, was integrated into the corporate structure of Irkut Corporation in 2004. Today traditions of this outstanding Bureau are continued by the Yakovlev Engineering Center, the main R&D unit of Irkut Corporation.
