Some 60,000 tons of magnesium may be extracted at the mines in Iran’s West Azerbaijan province per year, Arash Yusifzadeh, head of the industrial production department of Iran's Maku Free Trade and Industrial Zone, said.
Presently, there are four magnesium mines in the Maku Free Trade and Industrial Zone, Yusifzadeh added, Trend reports referring to ISNA.
He added that the licenses were issued to conduct the operation at two mines.
The reserves of two magnesium mines reach more than three million tons in the Maku Free Trade and Industrial Zone, Yusifzadeh said.
He said that on average, 78 percent accounts for magnesium extracted at the mines.
