Iran, Indonesia eye to implement joint projects

Iran and Indonesia can invest in the field of copper, gold and other mining materials in Iran’s south-eastern Sistan and Baluchestan province through the private sectors of both countries, Ahmad Ali Mohebati, governor of the province, said.

Mohebati made the remarks during a meeting with Indonesian Ambassador to Iran Octavino Alimudin, Trend reports referring to IRNA..

“Chabahar port located in the province can also contribute to the development of economic, political and cultural ties between the countries,” the governor added.

Mohebati noted that it is possible to increase import and export volumes through the Chabahar port.

“One of the most important sectors of the province is agriculture,” the governor said. “More than 70 varieties of dates are grown in this province.”

Mohebati said that pistachios, tropical fruits and other fruits are grown in the province.

The governor added that bilateral investments can be used in the field of processing and packaging of agricultural products.

In turn, the Indonesian ambassador said that Indonesia is ready to import and export products through the Chabahar port of the province.

“It is possible to establish strong ties and expand bilateral cooperation between Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province and Indonesia’s South Sumatra province,” Alimudin added.
