BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 19

By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:

Georgian company Agronet plans to build two walnut processing plants in the Georgian regions of Kakheti and Marneuli, Trend reports citing the Georgian media.

According to the founder of the company Ahmed Kahraman-Gogrochadze, the construction of plants is planned to be completed in two years.

Meanwhile, the investments made in this project will amount to 2 million euros.

In addition to these plants, Ahmed Kahraman-Gogrochadze also plans to create large cooperatives for walnut processing in Georgia.

“In Turkey, there are cooperatives with 150,000 members. All members produce a crop that is classified by caliber. Then the cooperatives find partners abroad to sell products,” the businessman said, adding that Agronet will carry out similar work in Georgia.

He believes that Turkey will be a key market for Georgian walnut, as the neighboring country imports this product from other countries.

Agronet company has been operating in Georgia for 13 years with a focus on agriculture. Agronet also includes Geolive, which has olive gardens in Kakheti and produces Georgian olive oil. The company owns walnut gardens and sells seedlings, has a nursery, agricultural equipment and trades fertilizers.
