Iran's annual revenues from exporting kiwi fruit exceed $97M

In the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019), Iran's revenues from kiwi fruit exports exceeded $97 million, Iranian Deputy Agriculture Minister Mohammad Ali Tahmasebi said, Trend reports with reference to the website of Iran's Agriculture Jihad Ministry.

Tahmasebi noted that about 140,000 tons of kiwi were exported last year.

Iran's has 12,400 hectares of kiwi fruit orchards and harvests over 362,000 tons of kiwi annually and thus, ranks fourth in the world in kiwi fruit production, Tahmasebi said.

An organization should be established to secure the markets where Iranian kiwi is exported, meet local demand and ensure continuous production, the deputy minister said, adding that producers and sales circles can create special fund in this regard.

Tahmasebi noted that with the help of the Agriculture Jihad Ministry, kiwi exporters have been able to obtain loans with 14.5 percent interest rate from Keshavarzi Bank (Agriculture Bank).
