BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 11

By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Iran intends to exchange electricity with other countries through neighboring states, Iran's Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian said.

Ardakanian made the remarks in Iran at the event dedicated to the commissioning of the first phase of the Dalaho Thermal Power Station in Dalaho county of Iran’s western Kermanshah province, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Energy Ministry's website.

“Iran exchanges electricity with Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Iraq, Turkey and other countries,” the minister said.

The minister added that the synchronization of power systems between Iran and Iraq is underway.

"The synchronization of the electricity grids of Iran and Russia has been put on the agenda," Ardakanian said.

“Hundreds of electric power companies operate in Iran,” the minister said. “About 150,000 people work in the electric power industry and about 60 percent of the country's power plants are managed by the private sector.”

Ardakanian said that the capacity of Iran's power stations has exceeded 83,000 megawatts and most of the equipment in this sphere is provided by local specialists.

The first phase of the Dalaho Thermal Power Station (310 MW) was commissioned in the Dalaho county of Kermanshah province on Dec. 11.

The power station consisting of three phases will generate 913 megawatts of electricity. A total of 365 million euros will be invested in the station. The station is being built by the Iranian Farab company.
