An agreement has been signed on the creation of a melamine production park in the Urmia county of Iran’s West Azerbaijan province, Trend reports citing IRNA.
The agreement was signed by Governor of West Azerbaijan Province Mohammad Mehdi Shahriyari and Executive Director of the Iranian Investment Petrochemical Group Rasoul Ashrafzadeh.
Ashrafzadeh said that a total of 7.4 trillion rials (about $1.7 billion) are expected to be spent on the implementation of the project.
The executive director noted that the park will be built within 36 months near the Urmia Petrochemical Complex, in partnership with the private sector and the Iranian government.
“Preventing the sale of raw materials, increasing workplaces and imports substitution are the goals of this project,” Ashrafzadeh added.
The executive director said that the park will employ 3,850 people.
Construction of the melamine production park will take place in six phases.
