Iran discloses amount of investments made in Maku Free Trade Zone

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 17

The investments worth 940 billion rials (about $22.3 million) have been made in the industrial and mining sectors of Maku Free Trade Zone in Iran’s north-western West Azerbaijan province this Iranian year (beginning on March 21, 2019), Deputy Director of Maku Free Trade Zone Ibrahim Jalili said.

“Some 420 billion rials (about $10 million) of those funds were made in the mining sector and 520 billion rials (about $12.3 million) in the industrial sector,” the deputy director said, Trend reports referring to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

Jalili added that the investments were made in 30 mining and industrial enterprises producing clothing, rubber, household goods and equipment.

"In total, 500 people were employed thanks to such investments," the deputy director said.

The Maku Free Trade Zone, located in Maku county of West Azerbaijan province, has a 140-kilometer border with Azerbaijan and a 130- kilometer border with Turkey.
