Export of fruits and vegetables of Uzbekistan decreased during the first quarter of 2020, Trend reports citing the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) has a negative impact on the development of economic relations and sustainable growth of exports, which in turn hinders the achievement of certain results, the report said.

In the period from January through March 2020, the volume of exports of fruit and vegetable products in physical terms amounted to more than 257,200 tons and in value terms exceeded $136.7 million, having decreased by 18.3 percent and 33.1 percent respectively compared to the same period in 2019.

A total of 211,400 tons of vegetables worth $83.4 million, and 45,800 tons of fruits and berries of the value of $53.3 million were exported from Uzbekistan in 1Q2020 (the rate declines in value terms by 33.3 percent and 32.8 percent, respectively, compared to the same period in 2019).

The largest share in value terms of exports of fruit and berries falls on Kazakhstan (25.6 percent of the total volume), which exceeds the volume of exports to Russia by 1.4 times.

Export of fruit and vegetable products to other countries has significantly decreased: to China - by 47 percent, to Turkey - by 92 percent, and Ukraine - by 83 percent.
